The history of Kronen Gaard
Built in 1898 by timber merchant Gabriel Block Watne, the Swiss-style main house was originally intended as a summer residence. Over time, the farm evolved into a beloved gathering place for family and friends—renowned for its warm hospitality, delicious food, and lively social life. These early traditions laid the foundation for the cozy, informal atmosphere that continues to define Kronen Gaard to this day.

Kronen Gaard belongs to “De Historiske,” a special network of Norway’s most charming hotels and restaurants. The membership includes 65 hotels, 20 restaurants, and one boat, all dedicated to preserving unique experiences.

To earn such a title requires a conscious approach to hospitality, where storytelling forms the foundation of the experiences in both accommodation and gastronomy. With the past as our backdrop, we strive to create new stories for our guests through exciting experiences.
